Northern Michigan is a delight - we are all from other parts of the country so we loved the fall colors, countryside and coastline. An easy, beautiful drive got us to Mackinaw City where we were able to take the ferry to Mackinac Isla nd for a day trip. We returned along the Tunnel of Trees. We also explored downtown Petoskey - our favorite shop we the American Spoon, and it was fun to see the Kilwins factory store. In Charlevoix we saw the mushroom houses designed by Earl Young. Our group's favorite outing was the Lavender Hill Farm. The staff are so knowledgeable, the property was gorgeous even off season and the products were lovely.
First, the inside. The furniture was comfy, including the beds, and the bathrooms and kitchen were wonderfully provisioned with quality linens and cooking gear. (Next time, I'll arrive with foil, parchment, and a sauce pan, but that's about it!) The fun, stylish decor made things feel special.
Outisde, an enormous fenced yard and cedar trees provided much privacy and quiet. (We did have a bit of noise on the weekend from the bar patio nearby, but we were outside partying, too!)
The fire pit, 2 picnic tables and *bikes!* meant everything we wanted was there.
The sleeper component of this property is its close proximity to a small public beach with amazinggggg sunset views and Petoskey stones galore! (IYKYK) Also, it's on the bike path that rims the bay and very close to the Victorian cottage district of Bay View.
It's closer to Petoskey, but also an easy jaunt to Harbor Springs and beyond.
GREAT communication and customer service when we had questions. WE WILL BE BACK.
